A lot of people don’t take enough time for themselves. Between work, family, and your other responsibilities, self-care often gets pushed to the side. This lack of time can lead to you feeling like you don’t have the energy to handle stressful situations throughout your day. One way to prevent this is having a morning routine that will help you begin each day in a calmer state of mind. The following is a simple morning routine that you can start using today.

When you first wake up, your body has been without food or water for at least six hours, so it’s important to rehydrate. While drinking water is important, most people also need to eat something substantial. Some people crave coffee in the morning, others forgo any food until lunchtime, but it’s best to eat something that provides both protein and carbohydrates. A breakfast of toast with peanut butter and a glass of orange juice gives you the energy needed to start the day.

If you are looking for a simple, easy-to-do yet highly effective exercise routine that will improve your health and wellness, stretching is the answer. Stretching is something that most people neglect to do or take time for, but it is incredibly important. Everyone needs to stretch because it improves flexibility, posture, coordination, and more.

What you need to do is take two to five minutes each morning before you start your day to stretch yourself out. If you want to be able to move more freely throughout the day or if you just want to feel better, then you need to stretch every morning. These stretches will help open up your chest area and improve blood flow. They will also work muscles that are commonly forgotten about or not exercised on a regular basis.

Every morning, take a few moments to consciously reflect on all that you are grateful for. Whether it’s the love of your friends and family, the joy of a beautiful sunrise or simply that you have been given another day to live, find at least one reason every day to be grateful.  The benefits of gratitude are enormous. When you’re feeling down, it can feel as though everything in your life is going wrong. Yet when you take a moment to focus on the things that make you happy, you’ll quickly realize how many good things there are in your life. Gratitude will make you feel more positive and optimistic about the future and help you forget about any negative feelings or worries.

The first hours of your day influence your behavior for the rest of the day. They can also have a big impact on your energy levels and your attitude, so it’s a good idea to start off on a positive note with a morning routine that helps you feel refreshed and ready to take on the day.

Some people have very regimented morning routines, while others just kind of do things as they go along. Either way is fine, as long as your routine is something that works for you. What matters most is that you have one and that you stick to it consistently. The key to a good morning routine is finding ways to make yourself feel better physically and mentally.
